Lake Zug Arctic char
A fish delicacy from Lake Zug
Have you heard the name "Savelinus alpinus"? Neither had we, but it is the Latin name for a fish commonly known as Arctic char, or "Zuger Rötel" as it is known locally, and it comes, not unsurprisingly, from Lake Zug.
It is popular to eat everywhere and its name in German refers to the red belly of the male fish which it uses to attract females, ensuring that there will always be plentiful stocks of them in the lake. "Bon appetit" or "En Guete!" as they say in Switzerland.
