Chriesi Chriesimaertstand

Due to the brisk construction activity in the canton of Zug and changes in agriculture, the population of cherry trees has declined massively over the last thirty years. The "1000 cherry trees for Zug" project launched by IG Zuger Chriesi increased the stock of high trunk cherry trees around the town of Zug, strengthened the importance of Zug cherries and increased the appetite for Zug cherries and their products. Today, cherry growing in the canton of Zug is one of the "Living Traditions of Switzerland" as part of the intangible UNESCO cultural heritage.
