Fountain Lake Zug

Fountain Lake Zug

On a photo from 1937, one could see that the fountain already existed at that time. In 1968 the city of Zug, upon request of the tourism office, decided to install small water jets. The costs at that time were split evenly among the city, the tourism office and club for improvement projects, and the Zug waterworks. The city of Zug was responsible for the management and maintenance of the fountain. In the fall of 2010, the fountain was turned off and the maintenance work suspended. Because of a request from local neighbourhoods, one began to look for solutions to get the fountain operational again. The costs were estimated at CHF 100'000. A well-known person from Zug heard about the efforts to get the fountain working again and donated this substantial amount. This made it possible to have the fountain operational by 5 July 2012, in time for the 125th commemoration ceremony of the city catastrophe.
