The City of Zug has had the right to hold markets since the Middle Ages. Since then, markets have been held regularly on the Landgemeindeplatz (the town square). Charming weekly markets, monthly markets and seasonal markets all share this picturesque square on Zug’s lakeside promenade. At the vibrant weekly markets, you will find fresh vegetables and sweet fruits from the local region, as well as flowers, regional cheeses and other fresh produce. The Chriesimärt is the “cherry on top” of the market calendar in Zug. This renowned cherry-themed market lasts 2–3 weeks and it takes place in June, transforming the city into a paradise of cherries.
