THE TREASURE BY LAKE ZUG

ZUG OLD TOWN AND THE ZYTTURM

Zug’s old town and its tower, the Zytturm, are well worth a visit in any season. But the atmosphere of the old-town alleys is best experienced in the mist. That's when it seems as though long-silent voices are speaking to you from the historic buildings shrouded in the mists. Or when the foghorn sounds desolately across the lake, which was so full of life just a moment ago. It’s both mystical and gracefu l— everything an old town should be. Peer through the mists at this treasure by Lake Zug.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT ZUG

60 PEOPLE

LOST THEIR LIVES here

In 1435, the last remaining row of houses situated directly by the lake slid into the water, killing 60 people. Zug’s city guides can tell you all about it, and tell many other gripping stories, too.

52 metres

..that's how high the zytturm is

In the 52-metre-high Zytturm, there is a little room that used to be used by the Föhnwächter: a special guard who looked out for fires. You can see a magnificent panoramic view from there. When you visit, be sure to get the key to the tower, so you can explore.
