Jan Jedlička – Retrospektive
Rough, pristine, and poetic: the Italian Maremma has inspired Jan Jedlička for decades. As an attentive observer, he deals with the subtle changes caused by light, the seasons, or human intervention in his environment. Precise, delicate, and with quiet persistence, Jedlička’s works refer to the landscapes and places in which he moves and returns to again and again. For his drawings, watercolours, and paintings, he extracts pigments from minerals found on site – and thus literally brings the landscape onto the paper and canvas.

Born in Prague in 1944, the artist emigrated for political reasons to Zurich in 1969, where he still lives today. The exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zug presents a comprehensive overview of Jan Jedlička’s multifaceted and fascinating oeuvre from the 1970s onwards for the first time in Switzerland.
The exhibition is accompanied by a publication.
