Les Italiens

Ein Generationenportrait zur italienisch-schweizerischen Migrationsgeschichte von Massimo Furlan. For ages 12+.
Les Italiens
«Les Italiens» sees Massimo Furlan weave an amusing yet reassuring portrait of everyday superheroes from Italy. The play focuses on a meeting between the director and a group of Italian seniors who sit down every day in the café at the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne to play cards. What connects these men is that they have left their native Italy behind to come and work in Switzerland.

On stage, they have the next generation alongside them: three sons of Italian migrant families with different backgrounds and two dancers. All of them talk about their memories, their hopes and their dreams. Their tales of their experiences are cleverly constructed, ranging from the comic to the deeply moving, with strong, captivating images and a deep affection for these uprooted people who have helped to make Switzerland the country that it is today. A play that you cannot help but take to heart.
