Hiking Trail along crosses and chapels
Menzingen to Edlibach
Churches, Monestaries, Chapels
Distance: approx. 7.5 km
Brief description: The first mention of Menzingen was in the written records of Einsiedeln 1217/22: Meincingin. Before the many scattered farms and hamlets became one village, one only spoke of the mountain and of the people from the mountain. In his book, Alois Staub wrote about these times and the history of his hometown. The book talks about the influence of Christianity, the battles and the French occupation, the emergence of the village center with its street car that connected Menzingen with Zug, the time as a health resort town with the nearby waters known as Urseeli, and the sagas and witch stories. The book is available at the Menzingen municipal office.
