Frauenthal-Lorzen route

Hiking trail

Creeks, rivers, lakes; this hike is all about the element of water

Frauenthal Lorze

Starting in Mühlau, the hike leads across the Reuss before reaching the beautiful Frauental Abbey. Frauenthal is the oldest Swiss Cistercian abbey, which still exists today on the site where it was founded. In the monastery store, you can satisfy your hunger with homemade baked goods.

"Wise men delight in water", as Confucius already knew. Along the Lorze, you have ample opportunity to observe the cool water as it meanders lively through the landscape. In Lindencham, we leave the Lorze for a detour to the Rosengarten restaurant, where you punch your trading card. This is the ideal opportunity to refresh yourself or fortify yourself with a snack.

Take the path back to the Lorze, whose riverside path takes you to Lake Zug. The magnificent Villette Park is the crowning glory of the hike. It was artistically laid out in 1865 in the English style by Theodor Froebel from Zurich. With its 46,000 square meters, the quietly situated Villette Park is a popular recreational area for the local population.
