Rigi Kaltbad has been known as a place of pilgrimage for 600 years, and the first bathing chapel was built in 1545. As the name "Kaltbad" suggests, however, people bathed in cold water at that time. Mario Botta's design takes up this tradition and revives the old bathing culture.
