Guided tour of the biomass cogeneration plant in Hünenberg: Groups see how electricity and heat are generated from manure and food waste from the region.
The tour of Biomasse Energie AG’s biomass cogeneration plant in Hünenberg illustrates the process by which biogenic waste from the region is converted into electricity and heat. Every day, approximately 100 cubic meters of biomass—such as manure, co-substrates from agriculture and industry, and food waste from commercial establishments—is collected, fermented into biogas, and converted in the combined heat and power plant. The electricity is fed into the power grid, while the heat is supplied via the district heating network to the village center of Hünenberg and two school buildings. The digestate is returned to the fields as fertilizer.
This tour is ideal for corporate events, club outings, and professional groups interested in renewable energy. It is available year-round from Monday through Saturday and lasts about 1 hour. Each guide can accommodate up to 25 people; with three guides, up to 75 people can be accommodated. Participants must be at least 12 years old. A light reception can be arranged upon request.
