There was a first city wall. Then a second city wall. Both were razed because the city blew up its borders.

However, here, at the somewhat inconspicuous Knopfli Tower, the city wall has been preserved on both sides of the tower. It is the second city wall from the 16th century. The wooden battlements can also be seen on the south-west side. Respectively the repaired version from 1992.
