Löwen Restaurant - Hausen am Albis

The festive hall on the first floor, the restaurant area on the ground floor with its large beer garden, and the beautiful bar with its historic wine cellar make the Löwen a central culinary institution in Hausen am Albis and the surrounding area.

The current owners of the property and operators of the inn—the Hausem-based entrepreneurial couple Joelle Apter and Michael von Arx—also feel a deep connection to its history and tradition. The Löwen is meant to remain a gathering place for a wide variety of guests and groups for generations to come.

As a locally rooted business, the Löwen team demonstrates its expertise and skill every day, always putting the wishes and needs of guests first. The meals, prepared fresh daily, are made with fresh ingredients—sourced from local producers and suppliers whenever possible. Employees are valued, supported, and provided with ongoing training.

Gasthof Löwen places a high priority on sustainability and environmental optimization. Heating, including hot water, is provided by wood chip-fired district heating. The electricity purchased from the Zurich Power Plant is also CO2-neutral as “green electricity.” Three charging stations for Teslas and other electric cars further support the Löwen’s sustainability-focused concept. The sale of high-quality village water (Huuser Quell from the Albis) underscores the inn’s commitment to the environment (no packaging, no transportation distances).
