Along the Sihl

EN

Discover this first-class trail along the enchanting Sihl, which takes you into an idyllic natural setting. The landscape at the Schönenberg rapids, known as the Sihlsprung, will surprise and impress you.

A gallery has been built into the Nagelfluh rocks. The river flows to the left of the covered path.

The adventure begins at the parking lot on Sihbruggstrasse and takes you along a picturesque hiking trail alongside the river. The trail changes character as you progress, from gravel paths to single trails that wind their way through the surrounding area.

The route requires you to cross the River Sihl twice, once shortly after the start and then halfway through. The outward route is almost flat, while on the way back you will have to contend with a few meters of elevation gain before the finish.

Some remarkable highlights await you during your adventure. The narrow section and the numerous Nagelfluh boulders make the otherwise quiet Sihl look wild and archaic. The hiking trail not only winds its way around the mossy rocks and under overhanging walls directly along the banks of the Sihl, but also through tunnels, the Sihlgalerien. The tunnel system was originally built by the water supply company of the city of Zurich and has probably become a tourist attraction by chance.
