Take two sparkling lakes, a historic old town, rolling hills dotted with cherry blossoms, plenty of mountain peaks on the horizon, and a dash of sunset romance.
Take two sparkling lakes, a historic old town, rolling hills dotted with cherry blossoms, plenty of mountain peaks on the horizon, and a dash of sunset romance.
The 54-kilometer route, with just under 1,000 meters of elevation gain, winds through the picturesque countryside of the canton of Zug. In addition to scenic views of lakes and mountains, the route features the memorial site of the Battle of Morgarten, where the Swiss Confederation faced its first major test in 1315. But this
loop isn’t just about halberds and maces—it’s also a challenging ride up Zug’s local mountain.
Our tip: Ride the last few meters from the Zugerberg down to Lake Zug in the golden glow of the sunset.
