You’ll have to work hard to earn the panoramic view from the 1,579-meter-high Rossberg. After all, the highest peak in Zug can only be reached by your own muscle power.
And the climb up this mountain—which is small by Swiss standards—is quite a challenge. No matter where you start your hike, the Rossberg always has a grueling stretch in store. This makes the magnificent view from the highest point, the Wildspitz, all the more enjoyable.
The landslide is also impressive. Every year on September 2, at five o’clock in the afternoon, the large bell of the parish church in Goldau rings out. This commemorates the terrible natural disaster of 1806. Within a few minutes, a gigantic mass of debris buried the valley between the Rigi and the Rossberg.
